Sustainable Actions

ECO CONCEPTS

Swim Club works closely with the dedicated team at Eco Concepts. Their purpose and intention is to create sustainable products made for a modern lifestyle.

Eco Concepts is a small production and design studio with grand intentions. They aim to set an example for the textile industry by taking responsibility and choosing the more challenging path. Their work is characterized by a refined sense of contemplation and authenticity expressed through conscious ideas.

Eco Concepts is driven by the belief in earth and a fascination for its functional resources. Creating sustainable, ethical, and high-quality garments that are made to last should be a given.

MATERIALS

A significant part of the environmental impact takes place at the raw material stage – long before the garment has been made.

The choice of fiber affects the longevity of the garment, how you are going to wash the garment, and if it will be possible to recycle it one day. We carefully consider what kind of materials we use in all our design and are committed to source the more sustainable option.

ORGANIC COTTON

We use organic cotton to create products in a way that is less harmful for the environment. Conventional cotton is one of the most commonly used fibers in the fashion industry, and are extremely water and chemical demanding. Highly toxic substances like fertilizers are applied to 99% of all cotton that is currently grown conventionally. When growing organic cotton, it can eliminate toxic chemicals which is considered better for the health of both the people and the soil.

The organic cotton we use have been certified by Global
Organic Textile Standard.

DEADSTOCK / LEFTOVER FABRIC

Deadstock or leftover fabric refers to fabric produced for a collection that was never used due to a flaw in the fabric, overproduction by the textile mill or that brands overestimated their needs. Often brands keep their excess fabrics for a few seasons and then it might end up at a landfill
after.

The challenge, but also the beauty of using left over fabrics is that we don’t find large quantities of any fabric. This means that all styles made of deadstock or left-over fabric will be very limited and exclusive. We think this is a great way of turning something considered waste or less worth, into something super exclusive and worthy. It is also an efficient way to reduce waste in the fashion industry.

RECYCLED POLYAMIDE

Recycled refers to fabric upcycled from garments/waste that had a previous life.

Polyamide is a flexible synthetic fiber, also known as nylon. Polyamide fabrics are known for its strength and flexibility. Since polyamide fabric takes hundreds of years to decompose we do not want to bring any new polyamide into this world, and therefore use strictly recycled polyamide in all our swim wear. Recycled polyamide is a material that has been recycled from waste. The raw material can be waste from the manufacturing industry, old fishing nets, plastic bottles, scraps, carpets, or other plastic waste.

The fabric we use for our swim wear has been certified by the “Global Recycled Standard”.

SILK

Silk is a natural fiber with the potential of circularity. The silk we use has been digital printed
and are certified by Oeko-tex standard 100 to make sure the fabric has a no harmful substances.

COLLECTIONS AND SEASONS

We believe in a seasonless wardrobe and create each collection to build upon the previous. We create products that we find relevant and lasting in both wearability, function and quality.

We produce small quantities of each product, and only produce more if the demand is there -  based on feedback and direct demand. This is key to keep production more accurate and less wasteful.

Sustainability is important in everything we do. Our choice of material, design decisions, packaging, production volume etc. We are committed to drive change in the fashion industry going forward. We invest in future-focused solutions and collaborate with partners with the same goal as us, and who share a common vision of transparency and sustainability.

We require that suppliers meet our standards for environmental influence, social responsibility, and materials. All our suppliers have signed and commited to our Code of conduct, a document based on internationally acknowledged UN and ILO conventions.

GOTS, short for Global Organic Textile Standard, is recognized as the world’s leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres.
